No Record of Wrongdoing!
Reading Time: 3 Minutes
This morning as I was communing with the Lord, He brought up the subject of shame. He reminded me of a story someone told me that I am not at liberty to share with you. But I will attempt to convey the message I received from the Lord. When an offense lingers no matter how hard we try to forgive, it is often because we already carry a spirit of shame. We have forgotten that the Lord sees us as perfect through His cleansing Blood. There is no record of wrongdoing! We are no longer convicted to serve the punishment for our sin. We are free and have the grace see others through the eyes of the cross of Jesus as well!
“I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.”Isaiah 43:25 NKJV
Not Bringing Up the Sin
There is a difference in not talking about an incident because there is so much shame attached to the story, and not talking about it because the incident doesn’t exist anymore- all is forgiven and forgotten! We can fight against the offense by keeping our eyes fixed on Jesus and who we are in Him! We are forgiven and we are forgivers!
God’s Definition of Forgiveness
God is love and His love is so full of mercy and grace. If anyone repents of their sin and follows Jesus, He forgives their sin, erases it from their book in Heaven and never brings it up again!
When we say yes to Jesus, He fills us with His Spirit of love and grace so we are like Him. If we follow Jesus, we will love others like He loves us. If we keep a record of wrongs others have done to us, even in our hearts or minds, we are not following the Holy Spirit God has placed inside us. Forgiveness means we do not keep a record of the offense– the sin done to us. We erase it, happy that the Blood of Jesus has covered their sin as well.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 1 Corinthians 13:4-5 NIV
Our Response to Freedom
Jesus said we should do to others as we want them to do to us. Forgive and forget. Freely we have received freedom from our past— so freely we offer others freedom from their past. The Holy Spirit enables us to be like Jesus and live from the atmosphere of Heaven!
“And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.” Hebrews 8:12 NLT
Prayer
Dear Lord,
Thank You for Your mercy and grace! Your love is beyond extravagant! Give us greater revelation of the way You have erased our sin by the power of Your Blood. We repent for “remembering” the sins of others that You died to forgive. Deliver us from spirits of shame, blame and condemnation. We want to live by Your power, Holy Spirit, so we can forgive and only keep a record of the good things others have done!
We pray this, Father, in the Name of Jesus and we believe You will answer our request! Thank You, Lord!
