Alyssa Lou
Reading Time: 5 Minutes
Monday morning, June 12th, as I woke up I heard a man’s voice in my mind sing, “Alyssa Lou.” I assumed it was God so I wrote it down and searched in several places for the meanings of the names.
Later on I remembered telling Jesus just a few weeks earlier that I would love to hear Him sing. He had answered my prayer! I was still groggy with sleep as I awoke that morning and the song was very short. I can’t clearly recall the sound of His voice. What I do remember is that His voice was not unusual but was a very nice male voice and the song was in the baritone range. The melody went up a note and then skipped downward. Oh how I want to hear Him sing again! I believe the meaning of this very short song is an encouraging word for God’s children!
ALYSSA
Depending on the language of origin, Alyssa means:
Noble
Joy
Great Happiness
Consecrated to God
Rational
LOU
Lou means:
Famous Warrior
Hallelujah! God sees his children as noble, joyful, rational, happy, famous warriors who are consecrated to Himself. He wants us to view ourselves this way as well!
Noble
We have been given God’s noble character through the Holy Spirit. Jesus is our King and we are God’s royal sons and daughters! It is our honor to fulfill God’s purpose in His Kingdom!
But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.” 2 Peter 2:9-10. NLT
Joy & Great Happiness
We live in the Spirit and His fruit in us is joy!
And the disciples were continually filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52 NASB
Rejoice in the Lord always: and again I say, Rejoice. Philippians 4:4 KJV
When people trust in earthly pleasures such as money and fame to make them happy, their happiness will be temporary. But when we put our trust in the Lord the Holy Spirit gives us joy despite our outward circumstances. Joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit and He lives inside the Christian.
I can say confidently that God also gives us great happiness here on earth. He delights in giving His children wonderful gifts of all kinds so that our circumstances here on earth are blessed. So happiness is not a bad word. If we put our trust in God, share His blessings generously and always give Him the glory we can always have the joy of the Lord. Sometimes we will even experience great happiness on this earth because of the many blessings He pours out upon us.
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. James 5:13 NIV
Consecrated to God
We are consecrated to God and made holy by the blood of the Lamb, Jesus Christ! The Lord has set us apart from the world and has seated us in the heavenly realms with God. Jesus was whipped, tortured and died on the cross so that we could be made whole– spirit, soul and body! We get to live “in Christ” on earth now and for eternity!
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through [that is, separate you from profane and vulgar things, make you pure and whole and undamaged—consecrated to Him—set apart for His purpose]; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept complete and [be found] blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 AMP
Rational
We are rational– not irrational! The Holy Spirit gives us a sound mind and self-control to think clearly and live our lives in the truth that sets us free. This world is declining in common sense. But those who draw near to God can have the mind of Christ to make Godly decisions every moment of the day.
For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control]. 2 Timothy 1:7 AMP
Famous Warrior
Jesus is the most famous person who ever lived on this earth and He has declared us to be His warriors. He wouldn’t have asked us to wear God’s armor unless we were preparing for a fight. We’re not fighting people. Instead, we are fighting against demonic forces. But God has equipped us for victory!
Listen! I have given you authority, so that you can walk on snakes and scorpions and overcome all the power of the Enemy, and nothing will hurt you. Luke 10:19 GNT
Jesus is singing over us with joy, “Alyssa Lou!” The Lord wants us to rejoice! Our Mighty Warrior and has gifted us with nobility, joy, holiness, a sound mind and authority to fight against the devil for God’s Kingdom! We are safe in His love!
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing. Zephaniah 3:17 NIV
