Declarations of Truth

Reading Time: 9 Minutes

God’s Word is planted in our hearts like good seed in good soil, and what we nurture in our hearts will be said from our mouths. Declarations of Truth are part of the process of cleansing our heart and filling it with the light of God’s presence. These declarations can accomplish much for the Kingdom of God on earth. But we must remember that behind every effective declaration of Truth is a heart that remains in Christ, fully devoted to Him and obedient to His Word.

A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For the mouth speaks what the heart is full of. Luke 6:45 NIV

What Are Declarations?

We make “declarations” every day depending on what is in our hearts. We can declare doubt, fear, illness, addictions, etc., or we can declare what God says– Truth. The Word of God is a Sword when it is used by the power of yielding to God’s Spirit. So, declarations from God’s Word fight against the lies of the devil, bringing us deliverance, breakthrough and victory. When we participate with God by planting His Word in our hearts, He will drive out what does not belong and fill us with more of His light!

Declarations of Truth increase the light and power of God in our hearts but they can also serve to do warfare against the enemy on behalf of others. God’s Word is a Sword that we can use as a mighty weapon against any attack of the devil on our family, friends, community, businesses, church and our nation. If we know it is Truth from God’s Word we can declare it and power will go out from our mouths!

We can declare God’s Truth from the heavenly realms of God’s Spirit even when it has not happened yet in the natural realm. God’s Truth spoken can cause things to happen on earth that would otherwise be impossible. The Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness are in a battle for souls and God’s children have been called up to fight from a place of victory!

The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. 2 Corinthians 10:4 NIV

Begin the Process

Many of us spent years halfheartedly believing God, simply repeating what we had heard from others, whether it aligned with God’s Word or not. Earthly logic, rules and regulations took precedence over what God has said. What we place our attention and affection on is what we grow to believe and it will become evident in our conversations. If we pay attention to what we say, then we can attack any darkness with God’s light– His Word and His Spirit. For instance, if you find yourself saying or thinking, “I’m losing my mind,” you can declare to your heart, “I have a sound mind because I have the Spirit of God.” This Truth is found in 2 Timothy 1:7. We must know who we are in Christ before we can effectively fight for others.

Here are a few declarations to get you started. I use several versions of the Bible, not because I like one over the other, but to comply with copyright laws. If the Lord wills, I will continue to add to this in the days and weeks ahead. God bless you as you take hold of God’s Word and move closer into the light of His presence!

I AM IN CHRIST

On that day [when that time comes] you will know for yourselves that I am in My Father, and you are in Me, and I am in you. John 14:20. AMP

Picture yourself inside Jesus! When our faith is in Jesus we are safe from the kingdom of darkness. No matter what happens on the outside, we can be at peace on the inside because He surrounds us and fills us. We live in Jesus– in the atmosphere of God’s presence and that is very, very good!

TOGETHER WE ARE ONE IN CHRIST

For you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus. And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:26-28. NLT

Those who place all their faith in Jesus Christ are one in Him! We are in the family of God. No person in Christ is inferior or superior to another. It is only by the Blood of Jesus that we have been brought to God and are safe in His love. The love and grace He gave to us, we freely give to one another.

MY OLD PERSON IS DEAD – IN CHRIST I AM A BRAND NEW PERSON

So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away—look, what is new has come! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NET

If someone “passes away” that means they are dead. That’s what happens when we choose to be “In Christ.” We are brought from death to life and are born again through the power of God!

WE ARE CLEAN

Our sins are washed away and we are made clean because Christ gave His own body as a gift to God. He did this once for all time. Hebrews 10:10 NLV

Because of Jesus, we are no longer guilty before God! I am clean and you are clean. The devil will try to accuse, but shame and blame has no place in the Body of Christ. We are forgiven!

NO HARM WILL COME TO ME OR MY FAMILY

If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,” and you make the Most High your dwelling, no harm will overtake you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; Psalm 91:9-11 NIV

If we remain in Christ, putting our full trust in Him, we have nothing to fear. We are in Jesus and He is in us. His Word says no harm will come to us or our family (tent), but we must believe His Word with all of our hearts and declare it with our mouths.

I AM HEALED

But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5 NKJV

Our forgiveness, mental/emotional well-being and physical health was paid for by Jesus when He was mocked, beaten, nailed to the cross. He has already achieved wholeness for us by His sacrifice and the shedding of His Blood. We are in Him and He is in the Father. Everything Jesus paid for is now ours if we can believe this Truth with all our hearts.

I LIVE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” 1 Peter 2:24. NIV

Jesus died so we could be free of sin and all the power of the enemy. When we choose Jesus, we choose to die to sin and live in the righteousness of Jesus Christ. Our lives should look totally different than before we met Christ. When we choose His righteousness and remain in Him, all of the blessings of grace are available to us– even health to our bodies.

DELIVERANCE IS MINE

Submit therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4:7. NASB

Submitting to God means developing a relationship with God as Lord of every part of our lives. When we live in God’s Kingdom as the King’s obedient children, we can resist the devil and the kingdom of darkness will flee from us.

I DO NOT WORRY – I HAVE GOD’S PEACE

May you always be joyful in your union with the Lord. I say it again: rejoice! Show a gentle attitude toward everyone. The Lord is coming soon. Don’t worry about anything, but in all your prayers ask God for what you need, always asking him with a thankful heart. And God’s peace, which is far beyond human understanding, will keep your hearts and minds safe in union with Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7 GNT

God desires a loving relationship of trust, so we come to Him and ask in confidence, thanksgiving and joy. He gives us peace when we trust in His unfailing love!

MY NATION IS HEALED

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14. KJV

Many times there is an “if” attached to God’s promises. If we remain in Christ or repent and come back into right relationship with Him, then the Lord can respond to our requests. In humble obedience to God’s Word and the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can declare that our nation is healed.

MY FAMILY WILL SERVE THE LORD

…but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. Joshua 24:15b. KJV

God has given us authority over the “territory” He has entrusted us with, and certainly part of that territory is our family. We can pray for them, influence them by the good fruit of the Spirit in our lives, and we can declare God’s Truth over them. In Jesus’ name, they will serve the Lord!
