Faith Of A Child
Reading Time: 4 Minutes
Thursday, March 19th, 2020 as I was playing the piano before the Lord. The Holy Spirit spoke to me in such a simple way about the faith of a child.
I heard the Lord ask a question. It went something like this: If a group of people in Jesus’ day were told about cars, jets, rockets, machines, and smart phones, who would have believed it?
Easy answer: Only the little children would have believed it. They would have been instantly energized by it and ready to play like they had one of these future inventions. The children would have used their imagination and believed that they were the ones who would create such an amazing machine.
May God give us the faith to believe in what we know He has told us is Truth! What would the Holy Spirit accomplish through us for God’s Kingdom if we would only become like little children?
Jesus Highlights Little Children
At that time the disciples came to Jesus saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a child, had him stand among them, and said, “I tell you the truth, unless you turn around and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven! Whoever then humbles himself like this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes a child like this in my name welcomes me. Matthew 18:1-5 NET
God’s Word consoles us and affirm us. It also empowers us and give us victory in our lives. But many Christians are living in fear because they haven’t seen a lot of victory in their lives. All of us struggle with this in some way. We need to remember and replay the past victories He has won for us. But the Lord also says, “Blessed are those who do not see and yet believe.” This is the faith of a child.
One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could lay his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him. But Jesus said, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children.” And he placed his hands on their heads and blessed them before he left. Matthew 19:13-15 NLT
Grow Like A Child
God wants us to grow in our faith, as little children, believing in greater measure what He has told us to be the Truth. Our faith in Christ begins when we first believe in Jesus and continues growing throughout our lives. So growing in faith does not look like a “know-it-all” grown-up. Our faith looks like a child, humble and eager to believe what we have been told by our Father God. Faith has nothing to do with how long you have known the Lord or the knowledge you have attained. Faith is believing what God says in His Word because of an intimate relationship with Jesus Christ and the Father through the Holy Spirit.
Our Father Is Bigger
I think about a childhood memory that I’m not sure really happened or if it was in a movie/TV. But I remember hearing two kids arguing about who’s daddy was the biggest and the strongest. I imagine they ran home to their fathers and told them, “You are the biggest and strongest Daddy!”
The enemy has been telling us that the father of lies is bigger and stronger than our Father in Heaven. It is time for us to become like little children, run home to our Father God and tattle! He will affirm the truth and encourage us through His Word!
You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. 1 John 4:4 NASB
Just Believe
Let’s have the faith of a child, not creating excuses or analyzing because of our past experiences or present circumstances. Just believe His Word because He said it! Let’s have faith in our Father who loved us and sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to save us!
When the Holy Spirit asks something of us, may we not cower in fear but believe that He can use us in His Kingdom to accomplish more than we can even imagine for His glory! Believe!
I encourage you to ask the Father for the scriptures you need in this season. Accept His Word with the faith of a little child. When we believe God’s Word we can stay young and soar in the heavenly realms!
Praise the Lord, my soul!
All my being, praise his holy name!
Praise the Lord, my soul,
and do not forget how kind he is.
He forgives all my sins
and heals all my diseases.
He keeps me from the grave
and blesses me with love and mercy.
He fills my life with good things,
so that I stay young and strong like an eagle. Psalm 103:1-5 GNT
