We Pray for America

On this 250th birthday of the United States of America, there is an increased need to pray for our nation. As we spiritually wake up to how the enemy has sown evil seeds in our beautiful nation, let us also wake up to what God desires to do through our prayers and action. May God continue to shed His grace on this beautiful land! Thank you for joining with me as we pray for America!

We Need God’s Blessing

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance. Psalm 33:12 NIV (Psalm 33:12-22)

Our Father who is in Heaven, we worship, honor and revere Your name! We declare that Jesus is Lord over the United States of America. Father, we acknowledge that this nation was birthed by Your divine will through its founding fathers. You chose America to be a mighty carrier of the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank You for the honor You placed upon this land to display Your grace and glory to the nations. We pray that Your blessing will continue upon this nation as we learn to yield to Your purpose for her. Bless all who serve this great nation, including our military and their families.

One Nation Under God

Knowing their thoughts, he told them, “Every kingdom divided against itself is headed for destruction, and no city or house divided against itself will stand.” Matthew 12:25 CSB

God, we pray for renewed unity under Your name and Your desires for America. We declare over America, “As for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” We thank You for the shift we see toward You and the boldness You have poured out on Your children. May Your Kingdom come and Your will be done in this country as it is in Heaven.

We Repent

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people. Proverbs 14:34 WEB

 …if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:14 NIV

We repent of our sin as individuals and as a nation, and confess them by name… Show us where we have disobeyed You and help us turn from our wicked ways. Have mercy on us, Lord, and wake us up from our spiritual slumber. Forgive our apathy and unbelief, our fear and lack of courage to obey You. Thank you for Your promise to forgive us. Help us not to be ashamed of Your name, Your love and Your truth, but to exalt You in this nation once again.

Leaders of Integrity, Knowledge and Courage

You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Deuteronomy 16:18-19 ESV

Lord, we pray for Your wisdom to grow among Your people in America. Teach us to know Your heart, to vote and obey You accordingly. Father, we pray against all injustice and corruption in our government. May men and women of integrity, knowledge and courage be appointed and voted in to all positions of government at the city, state and federal levels. We decree that the deeds of the wicked will be exposed. Righteous Judge, we pray that You will move those that work against Your purposes out of office and move those that honor You in. Restore common sense to those living in this land. May we, the people of this great nation, distinguish between right and wrong and have the conscience to do what is right in Your eyes.

God’s Laws of Love

“Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?” And He said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ Upon these two commandments hang the whole Law and the Prophets.” Matthew 22:36-40 NASB

Jesus, we pray that our US laws would reflect your two great commandments and that any law that violates Your commands would be changed. May the innocent be protected and may righteousness reign in this land by the power of the blood of Jesus. We pray that the Gospel will be presented in power in prisons and jails around our nation so lives can be rescued and brought into Your Kingdom. Give courage, protection and success to everyone commissioned to enforce the laws of this land.

Because Your love is Your presence, we pray that Your love, full of mercy and grace, will bind marriages, families and churches together. May Your holy and righteous love, be the guiding motivation for everything done in businesses, schools, entertainment, government and all other aspects of our culture that affect the heart and soul of America.

Divine Protection & Healing

Then the angel who was speaking with me went out, and another angel went out to meet him.  He said to him, “Run and tell this young man: Jerusalem will be inhabited without walls because of the number of people and animals in it.”  The declaration of the Lord: “I myself will be a wall of fire around it, and I will be the glory within it.” Zechariah 2:3-5 CSB

Father, we “plead the blood of Jesus” over America for divine protection as we continue to share the message of reconciliation with God through Jesus. May Your presence be a wall of fire around this land and the glory within it. You are a God of mercy and second chances. Pour out Your grace as Your children follow Your Spirit and learn what our responsibilities are to bless this country. Protect us and empower us do our part to guard the soul of this nation and see to it that it prospers under Your guidelines.

Protect the hearts and minds of this nation’s children and bring divine healing to the many that have been assaulted by the enemy. Heal us in every way, Lord, spirit, soul and body. By Your stripes and wounds, Jesus, we are healed. Equip Your Body to bring reconciliation, healing and truth that sets us free from the bondages of the enemy. Deliver this land from sin and addictions that have proven to steal, kill and destroy its children. We humble ourselves to be delivered and healed by Your grace so that we can be Your vessels to bring healing to others.

The Next Generation

And even when I am old and gray-headed, O God, do not abandon me, until I declare Your [mighty] strength to this generation, Your power to all who are to come. Psalm 71:18 AMP

Wonderful Father, we pray for a great spiritual awakening and revival in America for every age. Raise up the next generation as competent, Spirit-filled men and women, unashamed to live righteously and sold out to Jesus Christ. May the desire of their hearts be to succeed in what You have called them to do so that they can be a blessing to those they serve. Help them learn to live by the Holy Spirit so they can follow You closely. Call them uniquely into every area of life so that this nation becomes healthy again. And may the United States of America shine Your great light in these last days.

To the Lord Be All the Glory

Not to us, Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness. Why do the nations say, “Where is their God?” Our God is in heaven; he does whatever pleases him. Psalm 115:1-3 NIV

Lord Jesus, we give You all the glory! When we try to run our own lives we always fail. And whenever our nation abandoned Your heart through evil laws, selfish ambition and moral decay, we fell into trouble. But when America followed You unashamedly, Your blessing was upon us. Bring America back to Your heart, Father. We need You. We can’t do anything right without You. We give You all the glory for Your love and faithfulness in our lives. And when You rescue this nation from the trouble we are in, we will not take the glory. We will love unselfishly by Your power and give You all the glory, honor and praise!
