God is Powerful Light!

Visions of Light
On Sept. 28, 2024 I was in prayer and saw a simple vision of tube-shaped fluorescent light bulbs. There were around 8 of them arranged randomly and their lights were turned on. When I saw this I knew the Lord was turning my attention to His light. The next morning other members of our intercessory prayer team expressed words from the Lord and read powerful scriptures about God’s light even before I shared this little vision with them!
A couple of mornings later I awakened with a dream-vision about light. I saw a floodlight, like the ones on a house, suspended in air with electricity that looked like lightning streaming into the base. There were no wires. The floodlight was powered by the electric lightning.
There is so much in scripture about God being the light but I believe we often disconnect His light from His power. God’s light is power and His light is within us! The power of God’s full presence could instantly burn the universe into a heap of ashes. But God loves us! He harnesses His power into light that blesses us, gives us life and disperses the enemy! We simply must connect to God and allow Him to drive out any darkness in our hearts. Then we we will be able to shine like stars in a dark world.
How to Shine
God is Light
This is the message we have heard from him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5. NIV
God is light! When we say “Yes,” to Jesus Christ, God’s Spirit comes inside us and we are born-again to live forever in God’s light! In The Beautiful Dream God gave me I was in a dark place until Jesus came. He asked me to dance and I said “Yes.” When Jesus touched me all darkness left the inside of me, though the darkness outside in the world remained the same. I felt perfect love, joy and peace as if I was in Heaven! I loved Him and trusted Him far above all other things.
Later in the dream, Jesus came and took me to the heavenly realms where everything was pure light and the atmosphere was perfect love… But in the heavenly realms I didn’t pay attention to the Holy Spirit. I brought darkness back inside by allowing shame and fear to have their way. The Holy Spirit gave me another chance to be seated in unity with God and the Body of Christ.
I realize now that loving Jesus is paying close attention to the Holy Spirit and following HIs lead– no matter the cost! This is how we remain in God’s powerful light. Only when we are seated with God– in His light— we can be free from the darkness that is prevalent in this world. We can live in the atmosphere of Heaven and fulfill His purpose for our lives here on earth. We do that by living by God’s Spirit.
God’s Word is Light
The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. Psalm 119:130 NKJV
The Word of God (the Bible) tells us that God’s Word is alive and active. It works like a sword cutting away anything that doesn’t belong in the mind, body, soul or spirit. This is true for the person who is simple (humble & teachable) before God, willing to do anything He asks. The Word is Jesus Himself! He does laser surgery on us through the powerful light of His Word! But we have to meet with Him and pay attention to the Holy Spirit. Embrace the power of the light of Jesus as you read the Bible. Jesus is there with you helping you understand it. As God sends the light of His Spirit and His Word into our body, soul, mind and spirit He transforms us!
God’s Presence is Like Lightning
From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder. In front of the throne, seven lamps were blazing. Revelation 4:5a NIV
All around the Lord in Heaven is the glory and power of His majestic presence filled with flashes of lightning! When Jesus was transfigured in front of three of His disciples, His body looked different and His clothing became as bright as a flash of lightning. As humans, it is hard to imagine the immense purity, holiness and power of God!
And He said to them, “I watched Satan fall from heaven like lightning. Behold, I have given you authority to walk on snakes and scorpions, and authority over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will injure you. Luke 10:18-19 NASB
The same God who cast the devil out of Heaven with the lightning of His presence is the same God who sent Jesus to save us from our sins. God is love! Though He is All-Powerful, He extends mercy and grace to anyone who believes and follows His Son, Jesus!
Jesus has given us authority over all the power of the enemy– the same spirits that were cast out of Heaven by the lightning of God! The Holy Spirit’s lightning power inside those who yield to Him is like lightning, rerouting the enemy on our behalf. We must press into revelation of this powerful truth, especially in these dark and turbulent times. Psalm 18:1-19 is a passage describing how the Lord comes to rescue us from the enemy as lightning and thunder! His Storm against our enemies is Greater than the storms that come against us in this world! But we must know His Word, believe in the One within us who spoke them and declare His Words from our hearts and our mouths!
Follow the Light
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” John 8:12 NKJV
As the scripture above says, the person who follows Jesus will have God’s supernatural life-giving light. If you feel your light has grown dim, God wants to restore you. As Christians we do not walk in darkness like the people of this world. We live on earth but are seated spiritually with God in the heavenly realms– paying attention to the Holy Spirit.
No Fear in the Light
The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom should I fear? The Lord is the defense of my life; whom should I dread? Psalm 27:1 NASB
Many people become afraid during the night or when they hear troublesome news. The Lord wants us to know that we have nothing to fear because He lives in us and He is light! Submit to God, resist the spirit of fear and he will leave. The Lord saves us in this life and in the next! Psalm 91
Gifts of Light
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows James 1:17 NIV
The darkness we experience on earth does not come from our Heavenly Father! He only has good gifts to give us and has made them available to us by faith in Jesus Christ. God is light and is surrounded by holy angels who are full of God’s light. These powerful angels obey God’s commands and come to assist us when we call to God in prayer from a sincere heart.
Called Out of Darkness
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; 1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
We have been chosen by God! He reached out to us first and we had a choice– to live in darkness or to live in Christ, the light. We are not who we once were– without hope and without God in a dark world. We live in the light!
Shine Like Stars!
Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain. Philippians 2:12-16. NIV
Stars are giant balls of fire! It is God who works in us to fulfill His good purpose! If we yield to the Holy Spirit whose power is like a ball of fire inside us, He joyfully consumes the darkness that may be lurking in our hearts. But when Christians participate in dissension, physical sins, unloving thoughts or unbelief, they invite demons to have their way and become dull and powerless. Let us allow God have His way so the fire of His powerful presence can make us “blameless and pure” in our hearts, thoughts and actions. Then we can shine in the world like stars in the dark sky!
Know Who You Are and Who God Is
God wants a real relationship with us like a Father to a child, a Good King to His loyal soldier, a Great Teacher to His teachable student, a Wonderful Counselor to a person in need and a Loving Groom to His Bride. When we allow God to reveal to us that we have been adopted by the Father, we are warriors in His Kingdom, we are humble and teachable students, we are comforted and perfectly loved, then we will be filled with the light of the Holy Spirit. We will become power-stations for God’s light to flow through to others. All this is not for our glory but for the One who gave His Son to save us! Hallelujah!
You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honor and] glorify your Father who is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16 AMP
A Body Full of Light
The eye is the lamp of the body; so then, if your eye is clear, your whole body will be full of light. Matthew 6:22 NASB
Christians who are focused on “the law,” keeping rules and trying to avoid sinning by their own strength can become prey to a spirit of criticism, shame and blame– darkness. They try to extract a speck out of their brother’s eye when they have a huge log in their own. But when we focus on the powerful light of the Gospel and follow the Holy Spirit, we can walk in grace and victory over sin and condemnation. We can love by the power of Jesus who lives in us! Then our spiritual eyes can be healthy and our whole body full of God’s light!
God’s Presence is Fire!
God appeared and spoke to Moses as fire in a bush that would not burn up. The Lord’s presence led the people of Israel out of Egypt in the form of a cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. Daniel saw God’s Throne was aflame with fire and its wheels ablaze. John saw Jesus and His eyes were like flames of fire. Jesus said we are like lamps that must be continually filled with the oil of the Holy Spirit and kept burning. John the Baptist prophesied that Jesus would baptize with fire. After the resurrection of Jesus, God baptized the faithful believers in the fire of the Holy Spirit– the power of God’s presence!
Put me like a seal on your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, jealousy is as severe and cruel as Sheol (the place of the dead). Its flashes are flashes of fire, [a most vehement flame] the very flame of the Lord! Song of Solomon 8:6 AMP
Jesus is jealous for your love! He doesn’t want anything to lure you into darkness. His love for you is like an overwhelmingly powerful flame– so much so, that He endured the cross to rescue you from hell and bring you to Himself! The Father wants you safe and secure for eternity. Stay connected to God and He will fill your life with His powerful light!
